Week 2 Update

2/7 Weekly Update
I’m officially going to miss one of my goals (good thing I allowed for that buffer).  The Krispy Kreme challenge 2018 was an extremely cold morning and I blame that for not being able to get the donuts down any faster than I did.  In 2017, the donuts took less than 5 mins to eat.  This year, it was over 9!  So I missed the 40 minute goal, though unexpectedly that was not because of the running.  In fact, I was going faster on the return trip than the trip out!  The bright spot is that I finished 8 spots higher this year than the prior year (87 vs 95) so it seems other people struggled as well.

Other goals are off the ground, though there are still a few that need a kick.  I’m still significantly lacking in the mental goal area.  I wonder what that says….

Progress Notes
Physical
#5 - Light week on mileage as a tapered for the race.  Current total at 70.6.  Off pace, but now that the running event is out of the way, the cycling should kick in and move the needle here

#6 - 465/15,000  Again, I took a couple of days off in advance of the race - will try to catch up and maybe even get ahead

#10 - As mentioned above, my first missed goal.  Sad.  44:16 vs a goal of 40:00.  Who would have guessed it was because I couldn't eat donuts fast enough!

Mental
#16 - 1/40  I met a man named Paul.  Insert your own limerick here

Relationships
#20 - Went to IMAX with the family to see Born to be Wild.  Nice documentary about some amazing people who have committed their lives to two different species (orangutans and elephants).  Very admirable, I'm glad someone made a film about their efforts
#24 - 3/40 I cooked up some pizza on Sunday.  I think I need to spend some time planning the meals that I want to cook
#26 - 38/500 - Some fun books this week.

Environmental
#28 - 1/40 - I took my first Navy shower.  It's not what I would call enjoyable, but it's also not that bad.
#30 - 3 oz total.  I'm really surprised at just how vegetarian I've gotten.
#31 - 4/40.  Still no plastic bags used this year.  Hooray!

Miscellaneous
#35 - 2/40 I'm counting these as blog posts.  This makes 2!
#36 - 1/40 Got around to a mid-week bathroom cleaning.
#38 - 3/40 Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts.  Nothing most of you don't already know.  I'm looking forward to visiting some boutique shops this week
#39 - 10/40 I guess hitting my improv goal might prove a little easier than I thought.  I wonder if I can do 40 hours of shows?
#43 - 10/40 As it turns out, seeing sunrises is actually pretty easy when you have two young children who don't like to sleep and it's in the middle of winter.  As I mentioned last week though, seeing them and enjoying them are actually two different things.
