Week 18 update - continuing to push
It's hard to argue that you had a good week when this is what presents itself to you when you walk in the door.....
With the realization that last week we were already 1/3 of the year complete, I seemed to push a little harder on the accelerator this week to try to move the needle on a few areas. Nothing got crossed off, but some areas made a fair bit of progress.

It’s rained here the last 10 straight days (or at least it
sure feels that way) which means its been hard to get outside and enjoy a
bicycle ride. It’s not impossible, but
it is harder to get motivated.
Still – things moved forward. The big issue this week was falling off the
vegetarian wagon. For the first week
this year, I ate more than a pound of meat in a week. But, the place I was visiting was known for
their burgers and frankly it was delicious.
Anyway, on to a quick update.
Physical
#5
–1,410 miles – Still on pace, but would like to get a bit ahead
#6 – 4,970. So close to 5,000!
Mental
#14 - Mysterious beasts and where to find them. I was very excited to read more JK Rowling, but this book is just a collection of creatures, not stories about them. It's still an amazing collection of creativity.#15 - Revisionist History - This is Malcolm Gladwell perhaps at his best. Most recently, he's discussing the impact of football and encouraging boycotting it. I'm weighing this at the moment, but I'm growing to agree with the concept. Brains are pretty important - let's not let them be damaged.
#16 - I put my newly found ability to (usually) remember names to the test this weekend as I attended a birthday party of Robinson's friend. I remembered the birthday boy's name as well as the mother. Go me!
Relationships
#19 - I had a date with a wonderful, amazing, hard-working woman who I'm lucky enough to call my wife. We had dinner and a movie - something we haven't done in likely more than a decade (maybe ever?). It was a wonderful Indian cuisine dinner and a funny, if crude, movie in Deadpool 2. Fun!
#20 - We had a great time as a family watching a 3-D film about Pandas.
Environmental
#27 - Picked up the pace on garbage collection with 4+ pounds collected near Glenwood Avenue and then properly disposed of
#28 - With summer now in full swing, the Navy showers are far easier to manage. Up to 6.
#30 - As I mentioned above, I ate a fair bit of meat this week. Over 8 lbs now.
#32 - We're over a pound of vegetables as the beans and peas are starting to come in
#34 - One more load - this one will need a LOT of help.
Miscellaneous
#35 - Up to 14 posts.
#36 - 10 cleanings - still need more
#38 - BIG week here as I tried 4 different donut shops while on a business trip this week! Flyboy Donuts were good (Sioux Falls, SD), but the others were pretty average.
