3/8 Weekly Update – Second Goal Complete!

I’m a day late in my posting, but it was totally worth it.  This morning I had a very early flight out of Omaha and got to see the sun come up on a perfectly clear sky, my 40th sunrise of the year (yes, it’s only been 42 days since my birthday – this is my life).  Looking out the window, the sky panned from red, to orange, yellow, green, and a midnight blue before turning to the darkness out to the west.  With the small towns below, it was a magical image.  A good reminder that whatever may happen in life, the sun will come up and we are all small.

I tried a picture, but it clearly doesn't do it justice.

This week was a pretty blah week for goal attainment, but I guess that’s going to happen.  We had an unexpected visit from my nieces over the weekend and so we spent time with them.

Looking over the goal list, I’m anxiously awaiting the true arrival of spring to start getting outside and go places.

Physical
#5 – Over 100 miles covered this week to bring the total to 517.  Good progress here
#6 – 1,685. It’s amazing how rapidly the total rises.

Mental
#14 – No book this week, but I’m in the middle of “Why We Sleep”.  This should be a mandatory read for people of all ages with some “Nudges” applied to help people get more sleep.  While I’m not complete, I can’t help but wonder how much better as a human society we would be if we all slept more.  More on this next week.
#16 – This has made surprising progress.  It’s a good lesson that with a bit of focus, your brain can learn new tricks

Relationship
#20 Finding Dory with the boys sharing time on my lap.  I suspect I’ll really miss these days.

Environmental
#27 Picked up a couple of pieces of trash, but not enough to weigh
#28 – One more Navy shower.  These aren’t getting any more pleasant

Miscellaneous
#38 - Carolina Glazed – I’d give them 3 stars.  Nothing bad about their donuts, but nothing overwhelming either.
