3/14 Weekly Update – The 45th goal can be reached!
Thanks to a
heavy load of work travel, I didn’t make progress on many goals this week. It’s unfortunate I didn’t have anything
around bird counting though as I was fortunate enough to be in a car driving
while hundreds of thousands of snow geese were migrating north. It was an awe inspiring scene and a wonderful
reminder of what this world has on offer.
The other
big news for the week is a goal that I decided not to put on the list. At one point, I was going to include driving
4,000 miles in a car with alternative fuel.
The idea was to drive me to get a different car that wasn’t so fuel
inefficient as the minivan and use it as often as possible. I ultimately scratched the goal, but it looks
like it will happen anyway as I purchased a Leaf this week. Fun times!
#5 – Only a 40 mile week – legs and
body were fatigued with business travel.
I’m accepting this as a recovery week. I did do a 20 min test on Monday and found that the power in the legs continues to increase. We'll find out soon enough if it's enough for the 40km/hr goal that is set for 6 weeks from tomorrow.
#6 – 1,905.
Closing in on 2,000 and it’s so much easier than it was just a month and a half
ago
Mental
#14 – I
finished “Why We Sleep”. This is simply
amazing. Everybody of all reading ages
should read this book. Now if I could
just get my 4 year old to read it and understand the importance of sleep….
#16 – Over
a quarter of the way. The best part is
that I’m remembering the names over 80% of the time.
Relationship
#23 Amy had
a few nights away from the house so I got some time with just the boys this
week. They’re really fun to hang out
with and it made me appreciate that they are a great age right now (with the
exception of the sleep issue!)
#26 – With all
the time with the boys, reading books also took a jump. We’re almost up to 100 books together. There really are some great kids books out there.
Environmental
#30 I
really fell off the vegetarian wagon yesterday with a massive amount of
meat. However, I’m still only at about
3.5 pounds on the year so still on target to meet the goal
#31 – We’re
more than 10% of the way through the year and I’ve still yet to get a plastic
bag (though I don’t shop that much). I’m
wondering if I could collect less than 40 plastic bags for the year. Is this attainable?
Miscellaneous
#38 – Donut
World Greensboro – With a name like that, they’ve set expectations pretty
high. However, they delivered. 4 stars with a collection of excellent
donuts. Highly recommended.
